Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland moist forest, dry savanna. From sea-level - 1,000 m.
Central African Republic, Chad, Congo [The Democratic Republic of the], Sudan.

South-western Chad through Central African Republic to extreme south-western Sudan and extreme northern Zaire.

Subspecies
Forms a superspecies with Brown Parrot (Poicephalus meyeri), Ruppell's Parrot (Poicephalus rueppellii) and Brown-headed Parrot (Poicephalus cryptoxanthus), and possibly others. Formerly treated as a subspecies of Brown-headed Parrot (Poicephalus cryptoxanthus), to which is morphologically extremely close.
