Food
Almost exclusively seeds of grasses. Occasionally insects and their larvae.
Voice
A sharp, very high, thin, chseit, chseit', uttered in flight. A sharp, metallic, 'chsink, chsink'. A slightly harsh or scolding 'charrak, charrak'. A squeaky, varied, budgie-like chatter when perched in trees.
Similar Species
Could be confused with Golden-shouldered Parrot (Psephotellus chrysopterygius), but their ranges are widely separated.
