Voice
A sharp, metallic, scratchy, squeaky, abrupt, 'chwie-chwiep, chwie-chwiep'. A long, squeaked, 'chwieee'. Also a lower, husky, harsh, 'chwier-querrk'.

In a hollow of a tree.
Eggs (Guide)
2 - 7, usually 4 or 5; white; rounded; 22 - 24 x 19 mm. Incubation: about 20 days; by female.
Young
Altricial, nidicolous. Fledge in 4 - 5 weeks.
Subspecies
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
caeruleus Condon, 1941 - L Eyre region of South Australia and adjacent extreme south-western Queensland.
Similar Species
Mulga Parrot (Psephotellus varius) which have varying yellow forehead band, a varying red patch on the nape, and a contrasting lighter green band across the upper rump.
