Seeds, especially of Marri Eucalyptus calophylla, nectar and occasionally insects and their larvae.

A dinstinctive, rolling, 'kchurrrink!' uttered in flight. An abrupt, rough, 'chrrek' and a rapid, 'chirek-achek'.

Nest
In a hollow of a tree.

Eggs (Guide)
4 - 7, usually 5; white; rounded; 26 - 27 x 22 - 23 mm. Incubation: about 20 days; by female.

Young
Precocial, nidicolous. Fledge in about 35 days. Fed by female by regurgitation for the first two weeks then by both parents.
