French Polynesia (B).

Ua Pou and Ua Huka, and possibly still Nuku Hiva, in Marquesas Is, with a small new population on Fatu Hiva. Pre-historically on Ua Huka and Tahuata.

Habits
Usually in pairs and less often in small flocks. Rarely rests in one tree for long.
Food
Nectar and pollen, flowers, buds and insects.
Voice
A sharp piercing whistle, 'iiii'. Also an occasionall loud, high-pitched screech. A two-part 'to-weet' call repeated several times.
