Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland dry shrubland. From sea-level - 2,800 m.
El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua.
Western Mexico from southern Sonora to Chiapas, on central plateau from Nayarit and Jalisco south to México, Morelos, Puebla, Veracruz and Oaxaca; also Yucatán, and Central America from Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras to central Nicaragua.

Similar Species
Like Greater Roadrunner (Geococcyx californianus ) with sides of neck streaked, but underparts not streaked.
