Subspecies
Population of Andros has sometimes been separated as subspecies andrina.
The following 4 subspecies are recognised:
bahamensis (Bryant, H, 1864) - Bahama Is of Andros, New Providence and Eleuthera. Considered by some authors to be a distinct species, Bahama Lizard-cuckoo (Coccyzus bahamensis).
santamariae (Garrido, 1971) - Islands off north-central Cuba.
