Bangladesh (B), Bhutan (B), India (B), Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal (B), Pakistan (B), Sri Lanka.
Vagrant to Oman.
Himalayas of northern Pakistan and northern India east to Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan and possibly Assam, and south through peninsular India to Nilgiris and Wynad (Kerala); winters south to Sri Lanka and Maldive Is.
