Subspecies
Genus often merged into Halcyon. This species geographically separated from congeners and may provide a link between Actenoides and Tanysiptera.
excelsus (Mayr, 1941) - Guadalcanal (southern Solomons). Considered by some authors to be a distinct species, Guadalcanal Moustached Kingfisher (Actenoides excelsus).
