Subspecies
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:

waigiuensis Hartert, 1930 - Waigeo (western Papuan Is).
macrorrhina (Lesson, 1827) - Batanta, Salawati and Misool (western Papuan Is), and eastern across southern and eastern New Guinea.
jobiensis Salvadori, 1880 - Yapen I, in Geelvink Bay, and east through northern New Guinea to Astrolabe Bay.
