Habitat
In temperate regions, associating with deciduous woods and wetlands. In tropics and subtropics, coastal mangroves, wetlands and woods to inland forest clearings and cultivated areas with water.

Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia (B), China (mainland) (B), Hong Kong (China) (B), India (B), Japan, Laos (B), Malaysia, Myanmar (B), North Korea (B), Philippines, Singapore, South Korea (B), Thailand (B), Vietnam (B).

Vagrant to Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, Russia (Asian), Sri Lanka, Taiwan (China).
