Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland moist forest. From sea-level - 900 m.

Range (Guide)

Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Venezuela.

North-eastern Colombia and north-western and south-eastern Venezuela southern in lowlands to north-eastern Peru (south to R Ucayali, but mostly north of R Mara��n) and north-western Brazil (north of R Solim��es, east to northern Roraima, middle R Negro and upper R Japur�).

Subspecies
Belongs to the "Collared Aracari (Pteroglossus torquatus) group", which also includes Black-necked Aracari (Pteroglossus aracari), Chestnut-eared Aracari (Pteroglossus castanotis), Collared Aracari (Pteroglossus torquatus) and Fiery-billed Aracari (Pteroglossus frantzii). Within this group possibly closest to Chestnut-eared Aracari (Pteroglossus castanotis) and Black-necked Aracari (Pteroglossus aracari). Female hybrid between present species and subspecies atricollis of Black-necked Aracari (Pteroglossus aracari) known from south-eastern Venezuela (Carapo, R Paragua).
