Abundance (Guide)
UC

Uncommon. Widely kept, usually free-ranging, but few truely feral populations. Sedentary.

Habitat
Coastal scrubs, private and public gardens, sanctuaries and homesteads, but usually governed by site of release.

Range (Guide)
Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka.

Introduced to Australia (B), Bahamas (B), New Zealand (B), St Helena (E), USA (B).

Pakistan (east of R Indus) through most of India (southern from Himalayas) to Sri Lanka; may still occur in Bangladesh. Introduced to many parts of the world, but usually remains semi-feral.

Isolated, semi-feral populations, including King and Flinders Islands, Bass Strait, Kangaroo Island, SA, Rottnest Islnad, WA and south-eastern Queensland.
