Subspecies
Has been considered a subspecies of Malay Peacock-pheasant (Polyplectron malacense), but a phylogenetic analysis of male morphology indicates that it is better treated as a full species. Forms superspecies with Malay Peacock-pheasant (Polyplectron malacense) and some authors also include Palawan Peacock-pheasant (Polyplectron napoleonis).
