Not well known, but probably August - December.
Nest
Usually on the ground among fallen tree trunks or up in a cavity in the base of a large Pisonia .
Eggs (Guide )
10 - 13; white.
Subspecies
Forms superspecies with Grey Junglefowl (Gallus sonneratii ) and Sri Lanka Junglefowl (Gallus lafayettii ).
The following 5 subspecies are recognised:
murghi Robinson & Kloss, 1920 - Northern & north-eastern India, adjacent Nepal and Bangladesh.
spadiceus (Bonnaterre, 1792) - Central-southern China (south-western Yunnan), Burma, Thailand (not east), Peninsular Malaysia and northern Sumatra.
jabouillei Delacour & Kinnear, 1928 - Central-southern China (south-eastern Yunnan, Guangxi and Hainan), northern Vietnam.
gallus (Linnaeus, 1758) - Eastern Thailand through Kampuchea and central & southern Laos to central & southern Vietnam.
bankiva Temminck, 1813 - Southern Sumatra, Java and Bali.
