Subspecies
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:

caurina Blanford, 1898 - North-western India (Aravalli Hills, southern Rajasthan).
spadicea (Gmelin, 1789) - Western Nepal and much of Peninsular India (Uttar Pradesh south to Karnataka and Tamil Nadu).
stewarti Baker, ECS, 1919 - Southern India (Kerala).
