Subspecies
Previously placed in superspecies with Chukar Partridge (Alectoris chukar), Barbary Partridge (Alectoris barbara) and Red-legged Partridge (Alectoris rufa), but now proposed to form superspecies with Przevalski's Partridge (Alectoris magna), Rock Partridge (Alectoris graeca) and Chukar Partridge (Alectoris chukar). Formerly included within Rock Partridge (Alectoris graeca).

No subspecies.

Similar Species
Shares much of range with Arabian Partridge (Alectoris melanocephala) but immediately told by large black throat patch (white throat, bordered by black in Arabian).
