Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland moist forest. From sea-level - 1,500 m.
Bolivia (B), Brazil (B), Colombia (B), Ecuador (B), Peru (B).

Eastern Peru, central and eastern Bolivia and western Brazil. Winters to northern Colombia.

Subspecies
Chaetura chapmani (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into Chapman's Swift (Chaetura chapmani) and Mato Grosso Swift (Chaetura viridipennis) following SACC (2005).
Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Chapman's Swift (Chaetura chapmani).
No subspecies.
