Subspecies
Forms superspecies with Arabian Bustard (Ardeotis arabs). Sometimes alternatively considered to form superspecies with Great Indian Bustard (Ardeotis nigriceps) and Australian Bustard (Ardeotis australis), and all three have even been lumped together in single species, Kori Bustard (Ardeotis kori). All four Ardeotis have occasionally been placed in same superspecies.
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
struthiunculus (Neumann, 1907) - North-western Somalia and central Ethiopia through south-eastern Sudan, north-eastern Uganda and Kenya to northern Tanzania.
kori (Burchell, 1822) - Southern Angola and Namibia east through Botswana to southern Zimbabwe and southern Mozambique, and south to South Africa.
