Subspecies
White-browed Coucal (Centropus superciliosus) and Burchell's Coucal (Centropus burchelli) (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) have been lumped into Centropus superciliosus following Dowsett and Forbes-Watson (1993).
Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of White-browed Coucal (Centropus superciliosus).
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
fasciipygialis Reichenow, 1898 - Eastern Tanzania to eastern Zimbabwe and Mozambique. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of White-browed Coucal (Centropus superciliosus).
burchellii Swainson, 1838 - Eastern Botswana to southern Zimbabwe, Mozambique and South Africa. Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of White-browed Coucal (Centropus superciliosus).
