Habitat
Closed canopy forest, secondary and logged forest, forest edge and occasionally well-cultivated areas, fruiting or flowering trees in forest patches and scrub. From sea-level - 1,000 m but occasionally up to 1,200 m.
Mindoro, Panay and Negros, in west-central Philippines.
 
Population
Estimated population is 10,000 - 19,999 (2010) and decreasing.
Status VU
Habitat destruction and degradation through clearance by slash-and-burn agriculture, selective logging, dynamite blasting for marble, are the main threats.

Voice
Song a series of thin, high-pitched, sweet notes. Call is a hard 'tup tup'.

Subspecies
No subspecies.
Possibly part of the superspecies formed by Red-striped Flowerpecker (Dicaeum australe) and Visayan Flowerpecker (Dicaeum haematostictum), but differs from those in several characters.
