Habitat
Understorey of montane or mossy forest, apparently favouring thick, shady patches in areas dominated by oaks. Above 950 m, and principally above 1,500 m.
Population
Estimated population is 2,500 - 9,999 (2010) and decreasing.
Status VU
Habitat destruction through conversion to agricultural land, primarily for vegetable production, and logging, is the main threat.

Skulking and seldom seen.
Voice
Not well known but thought to utter thin high-pitched phrases.
Similar Species
Eyebrowed Thrush (Turdus obscurus) superficially similar but has very different behaviour, paler, greyer head and lacks dark breast-band.
