Myophonus glaucinus (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into Sunda Whistling-Thrush (Myophonus glaucinus), Sumatran Whistling-Thrush (Myophonus castaneus) and Bornean Whistling-Thrush (Myophonus borneensis) and following Collar (2004).

Forms a superspecies with Sumatran Whistling-Thrush (Myophonus castaneus) and Bornean Whistling-Thrush (Myophonus borneensis) and all were previously treated as conspecific.
