Hylorchilus sumichrasti (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into Slender-billed Wren (Hylorchilus sumichrasti) and Nava's Wren (Hylorchilus navai) following AOU (1998).

Has been included in genus Catherpes. Formerly treated as conspecific with Nava's Wren (Hylorchilus navai), but the two are quite distinct in plumage and, especially, in vocalizations.
