Subspecies
Rufous-backed Thrush (Turdus rufopalliatus) and Grayson's Thrush (Turdus graysoni) (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) have been lumped into Turdus rufopalliatus following AOU (1998).
Subspecies graysoni has been treated as a separate species, but appears to represent a typical case of colour loss in an insular form of a continental species; in absence of vocal data, separation considered unwarranted.
graysoni (Ridgway, 1882) - Tres Marías Is (off western Mexico). Considered by some authors to be a distinct species, Grayson's Thrush (Turdus graysoni).
