No subspecies.
Anjouan Brush-Warbler (Nesillas longicaudata), Grand Comoro Brush-Warbler (Nesillas brevicaudata) and Moheli Brush-Warbler (Nesillas mariae) (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993), from the Comoro Islands, are retained as species contra Dowsett and Forbes-Watson (1993) who recognise only Grand Comoro Brush-Warbler (Nesillas brevicaudata) and Moheli Brush-Warbler (Nesillas mariae).
Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Madagascar Brush-warbler (Nesillas typica).
