Zoothera dumasi (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into Moluccan Thrush (Geokichla dumasi) and Seram Thrush (Geokichla joiceyi) following Collar (2004).

Closely related to Seram Thrush (Geokichla joiceyi) and often regarded as conspecific, but considerable plumage differences.

Similar Species
None in range, but Seram Thrush (Geokichla joiceyi) which is similar, but has dark brown mantle and white tips only to median wing-coverts.
