Habitat
Montane forest and forest edge. From 1,400 - 2,100 m.
Indonesia (B).
Vogelkop (Arfak Mts), and apparently also Onin Peninsula (Fakfak Mts), in north-western New Guinea.
 
Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010) and decreasing.
Status NT
Forest loss is the main threat.

Subspecies
No subspecies.
Forms a superspecies with Short-tailed Paradigalla (Paradigalla brevicauda ), and was in the past sometimes considered conspecific. Intergeneric hybridization with Western Parotia (Parotia sefilata ), Superb Bird-of-paradise (Lophorina superba ) and Black Sicklebill (Epimachus fastosus ) documented.
