Grey Friarbird © dibird.com

Little Friarbird (Philemon citreogularis) and Grey Friarbird (Philemon kisserensis) (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) have been lumped into Philemon citreogularis following Andrew (1992). This treatment is under review by the BirdLife International.

Forms a superspecies with Brass's Friarbird (Philemon brassi), Little Friarbird (Philemon citreogularis) and Plain Friarbird (Philemon inornatus). Often treated as a subspecies of Little Friarbird (Philemon citreogularis).
