Subspecies
Yellow-eyed Thrush (Turdus nudigenis) and Ecuadorian Thrush (Turdus maculirostris) (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) were previously lumped into Turdus nudigenis following SACC (2005) but have since been re-split following SACC (2009).

May form a superspecies with Ecuadorian Thrush (Turdus maculirostris), and often considered conspecific. Has in the past been thought to form a superspecies, or even to be conspecific, with Clay-colored Thrush (Turdus grayi), but differences between the two considered too great to warrant such treatment.

The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

  • nudigenis Lafresnaye, 1848   -  Lesser Antilles (Guadeloupe, Martinique, St Lucia, St Vincent, Grenada), Trinidad and Tobago, and from Venezuela and eastern Andes of Colombia east to the Guianas.
  • extimus Todd, 1931   -  Northern Brazil.
