Salvin, 1885

Habitat
Subtropical and tropical moist lowland and swamp forest. From sea-level - 550 m.

Range (Guide)
Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, Venezuela (B).

Eastern Venezuela (Bolí­var east of R Caura and south of R Orinoco), the Guianas and north-eastern Amazonian Brazil (east of R Trombetas).
 
Population
Estimated population is unknown (2013) and stable.

Subspecies
Herpsilochmus sticturus (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into Spot-tailed Antwren (Herpsilochmus sticturus) and Dugand's Antwren (Herpsilochmus dugandi) following SACC (2005).

Forms a superspecies with Dugand's Antwren (Herpsilochmus dugandi) and formerly considered conspecific, but separated on basis of differences in female plumage and in calls.

No subspecies.
