Subspecies
No subspecies.

Phylloscopus proregulus (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into Lemon-rumped Warbler (Phylloscopus proregulus) and Gansu Leaf-Warbler (Phylloscopus kansuensis) following Alström et al. (1997).

Formerly treated as conspecific with Lemon-rumped Leaf-Warbler (Phylloscopus chloronotus), and implicitly including also Gansu Leaf-Warbler (Phylloscopus kansuensis) and Chinese Leaf-Warbler (Phylloscopus yunnanensis). Recent studies, however, indicate that all are vocally distinct, and that they further differ genetically.
