Subspecies
Cinnycerthia peruana (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into Peruvian Wren (Cinnycerthia peruana), Sharpe's Wren (Cinnycerthia olivascens) and Fulvous Wren (Cinnycerthia fulva) following SACC (2005).
Formerly treated as conspecific with Peruvian Wren (Cinnycerthia peruana) and Fulvous Wren (Cinnycerthia fulva).
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
olivascens Sharpe, 1881 - Western and central Andes of Colombia (southern from Antioquia) south to extreme northern Peru.
bogotensis (Matschie, 1885) - Western slope of eastern Andes of Colombia (Santander south to Cundinamarca).
