Subspecies
No subspecies.
Phylloscopus proregulus (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into Lemon-rumped Warbler (Phylloscopus proregulus) and Gansu Leaf-Warbler (Phylloscopus kansuensis) following Alström et al. (1997).
This taxon has usually been treated as a junior synonym of nominate subspecies of Lemon-rumped Warbler (Phylloscopus proregulus) or of Pale-rumped Warbler (Phylloscopus chloronotus) (which has similarly been lumped within that species). Recent studies, however, have indicated that it is distinct vocally and in habitat choice.
