Habitat
Subtropical and tropical high altitude grassland. From 1,500 - 4,000 m.
Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Falkland Islands (Malvinas), Peru.
Breeds in central and southern Chile (Aconcagua south to Magallanes) and central-western and south-western Argentina and eastern Río Negro; winters north to western Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador.
