Range (Guide)

Peru.

Central Andes of Peru, from southern Amazonas south to Jun��n; a few specimens from as far southern as Ayacucho might refer to present species.

Estimated population is unknown (2011).

Scytalopus femoralis (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into Rufous-vented Tapaculo (Scytalopus femoralis), White-crowned Tapaculo (Scytalopus atratus), Bolivian Tapaculo (Scytalopus bolivianus), Santa Marta Tapaculo (Scytalopus sanctaemartae) and Long-tailed Tapaculo (Scytalopus micropterus) following SACC (2005).
