Spelaeornis chocolatinus (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) has been split into Naga Wren-Babbler (Spelaeornis chocolatinus), Grey-bellied Wren-Babbler (Spelaeornis reptatus), Chin Hills Wren-Babbler (Spelaeornis oatesi) and Pale-throated Wren-Babbler (Spelaeornis kinneari) following Collar (2006).
Formerly treated as conspecific with Naga Wren-Babbler (Spelaeornis chocolatinus), Grey-bellied Wren-Babbler (Spelaeornis reptatus) and Pale-throated Wren-Babbler (Spelaeornis kinneari).
