Range (Guide)

Ecuador.

Vagrant to Peru.

Western Ecuador. Recently recorded in extreme northern Peru (Tumbes).

Estimated population is unknown (2011).

Subspecies
Collared Aracari (Pteroglossus torquatus), Stripe-billed Aracari (Pteroglossus sanguineus) and Pale-billed Aracari (Pteroglossus erythropygius) (Sibley and Monroe 1990, 1993) have been lumped into i>P. torquatus following SACC (2006) and a review by the BirdLife Taxonomic Working Group.

Considered by some authors to be a subspecies of Collared Aracari (Pteroglossus torquatus).

No subspecies.
