Proposed subspecies latimerae (Eastern Cape) included within colletti.

The following 3 subspecies are recognised:

• stabilior (Linnaeus, 1766)   -  Zimbabwe (central plateau east to Inyanga Mts) and adjacent Mozambique.
• colletti Schou, 1908   -  Extreme south-eastern Botswana, eastern South Africa (Northern and central North-west Provinces south to northern eastern Cape), Swaziland and Lesotho.
• capensis (Linnaeus, 1766)   -  Coastal belt of south-western and southern South Africa.
