Subtropical and tropical lowland seasonally wet / flooded grassland, dry savanna.
Angola, Congo [The Democratic Republic of the], Zambia.
Angola (Cuanza Sul south to northern Huíla, east to southern Lunda Norte and northern Moxico) east to southern DRCongo and northern Zambia.

Subspecies
No subspecies.
Sometimes considered to form a superspecies with Blue Swallow (Hirundo atrocaerulea ), but morphological differences probably too great to justify such a treatment.
