Subspecies
Forms superspecies with Western Marsh-Harrier (Circus aeruginosus), Eastern Marsh-harrier (Circus spilonotus), Swamp Harrier (Circus approximans) and Reunion Marsh-harrier (Circus maillardi). Often considered a subspecies of Western Marsh-Harrier (Circus aeruginosus).
