Habitat
Subtropical and tropical montane moist forest, high altitude shrubland, dry forest, urban areas, rural gardens, arable land, plantations. From 1,000 - 3,200 m.

Range (Guide)

Burundi, Congo [The Democratic Republic of the], Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia (B), Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania [United Republic of], Uganda, Yemen (B), Zambia.

South-eastern Sudan, western and south-eastern Ethiopia, Eritrea and Somalia to Uganda, whence patchily Swest through mountains of Rift Valley to northern Malawi, and Seast through Kenya highlands to north-eastern Tanzania; also south-western Arabia.

Estimated population is unknown (2010).

Forms a superspecies with Adamawa Turtle-Dove (Streptopelia hypopyrrha), with which sometimes considered conspecific.
