Habitat
Subtropical and tropical lowland moist forest, dry savanna. From sea-level - 1,750 m, occasionally to 2,500 m.
Angola, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo [The Democratic Republic of the], Gabon, Kenya, Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania [United Republic of], Uganda, Zambia.
Widely distributed from north-eastern and eastern Zaire, southern Sudan, Uganda, western Kenya, north-western Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi to all of southern Zaire, northern and eastern Angola and northern Zambia; also isolated populations in north-eastern Gabon, Cameroon, northern Central African Republic, and at one or two localities in the Caprivi Strip and in the Okavango Delta in north-western Botswana. May be sympatric with M. violacea in northern Central African Republic and near Galim in central Cameroon.
