Subspecies
No subspecies.
The sister-species of Straight-billed Woodcreeper (Dendroplex picus). Recent analysis of molecular data suggested that these species are distantly related to present congeners, and closer to Lepidocolaptes and Campylorhamphus. Treatment as a full species distinct from Straight-billed Woodcreeper (Dendroplex picus) supported by vocal, morphological, ecological and molecular data. Described taxon "Dendroplex necopinus" recently shown to be a synonym of Dendrornis [= Xiphorhynchus] Kienerii, the name of which has priority.
