Subspecies
In past, sometimes separated in monospecific genus Eupogonus.

The following 2 subspecies are recognised:

tolimae Kleinschmidt, O, 1927 - Volcán Tolima in central Andes of Colombia.
herrani (DeLattre & Bourcier, 1846) - Western Andes of Colombia (Munchique to Nariño) through both slopes in Ecuador to northern Peru (Piura).
