Subspecies
The following 6 subspecies are recognised:

antelius Todd, 1947 - North-eastern Venezuela.
sordidus (Linnaeus, 1758) - Northern Venezuela.
ponsi Aveledo & Gin�s, 1950 - North-western Venezuela west to Santa Marta foothills in northern Colombia.
saturatus Todd, 1915 - Santa Marta massif, northern Colombia.
corallinus Bonaparte, 1854 - Eastern Andes of Colombia south through eastern Ecuador and eastern Peru to northern Bolivia.
mindoensis Chapman, 1925 - Western Ecuador.
