Vagrant to Antigua And Barbuda, Honduras, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Turks and Caicos Islands, Virgin Islands (U.S.).
Population
Estimated population is 270,000 - 370,000 (2010).

Subspecies
The following 5 subspecies are recognised:
- septentrionalium (Snyder & Lumsden, 1951) - West-central North America, from British Columbia south to north-western Mexico.
- tropica (Snyder & Lumsden, 1951) - North-western Colombia.
- borreroi (Snyder & Lumsden, 1951) - Eastern Andes of Colombia.
- orinoma (Oberholser, 1906) - Altiplano of Peru and Bolivia to northern Chile.
- cyanoptera (Vieillot, 1816) - Southern Peru and southern Brazil to Tierra del Fuego; Falkland Is.
