Subspecies
The following 3 subspecies are recognised:

chakei Aveledo & Gin�s, 1952 - Sierra de Perij�, on Colombia-Venezuela border.
unibrunnea (Lafresnaye, 1853) - Colombia (northern part of western Andes, and central Andes) south to northern Peru (Piura, Cajamarca).
unirufa (Lafresnaye, 1840) - Eastern Andes in extreme south-western Venezuela (T�chira) and Colombia (south to Cundinamarca).
