Habitat
Lowland forest, forest edge and overgrown plantations. From sea-level - 500 m.

Range (Guide)

Argentina (B), Brazil (B), Paraguay (B).

South-eastern Brazil (from R��o de Janeiro south to central Rio Grande do Sul) and adjacent eastern Paraguay (Canindey� south to Guair� and Itapu�) and north-eastern Argentina (Misiones and Corrientes).

Population
Estimated population is unknown (2010) and decreasing.

Status NT
Habitat destruction and degradation through urbanisation, industrialisation, agricultural expansion, colonisation and associated road-building, is the main threat.

Recent molecular-genetic analysis indicates that genus belongs in family Fringillidae.
