Subspecies
Relationships of genus uncertain.
The following 2 subspecies are recognised:
melanotis Hodgson, 1847 - Central Nepal east to Bhutan, all north-eastern Indian hill states, adjacent southern China (south-eastern Xizang, western and southern Yunnan), west, northern and south-eastern Myanmar, north-western and south-western Thailand, northern and central Laos and Vietnam (south to central Annam).
tahanensis Hartert, 1902 - Extreme southern Thailand and Peninsular Malaysia.
